Get started today so that you can enjoy a smooth transition into the spring season without any unexpected surprises along the way.

HOW CAN YOU PREPARE YOUR PLUMBING SYSTEM FOR EARLY SPRING?

  1. CHECK OUT YOUR FAUCETS & SINKS: Let’s start with your sink and faucets, as their usage is frequent. To guarantee they are in top shape for the upcoming season, you should examine them with every seasonal change to certify that there aren’t any leakages or corrosion. Even if it appears that nothing has changed at first glance, remember to always check under the sink, too; tiny leaks can accumulate over time! So, it would be good to inspect these components thoroughly before transitioning into a new season.
  1. CHECK OUT YOUR TOILETS: Don’t let leaky toilets catch you by surprise. If left unchecked, they can easily become a costly and time-consuming hassle. If water is regularly accumulating near your toilet or it appears to be constantly running, there’s a good chance that the culprit is a pesky leak. Act quickly to address this issue before it gets out of hand – and what better way to kick off the spring season than by making sure everything is running smoothly!
  1. Check Your Outdoor Faucets: After a long winter, it’s time to inspect your outdoor faucets and make sure they’re ready for use in the spring and summer. When you turn them on, you may hear some rushing water followed by spurting or popping noises. This is normal, so don’t be alarmed. Wait a minute until the flow of water runs regularly, then shut off the tap and wait an additional moment to check that no leaks or dripping occur.
  1. CHECK YOUR WATER HOSES: Normally, before winter, water hoses should be stored away properly for the cold season. For this reason, it’s essential that you check on your water hoses before reattaching them back onto the faucets before springtime. You should inspect them closely and look out for any expanded areas that may have compromised their efficiency. Also, check if there are any visible cracks or excessive wear on the hose itself. If you discover a damaged hose, it’s best to replace it before connecting it again with your outdoor fixtures in preparation for springtime, as you don’t want to risk compromising your plumbing work.
  1. CHECK YOUR SUMP PUMP: During the spring-cleaning process, don’t forget about your sump pump! It typically should be cleaned every 3-4 months! If you’re unsure about how to do this, you can refer to your owner’s manual, or give us a call to schedule an inspection.
  1. CHECK YOUR MAIN WATER VALVE: The last step that often gets overlooked is a preventative measure, but a great one to add when you’re being thorough with your spring chores. If you can’t remember the last time you gave your main water valve a once-over, now’s an ideal moment to do it. To make sure the valve still rotates, try turning it off; rotate it clockwise until it is entirely shut off. After a minute, rotate the shutoff valve counterclockwise to open it again. If you experience difficulty turning this fixture on and off, then now may be the time for an upgrade. Situations like plumbing emergencies require you to easily access your water shutoff valve without any complications or delays.
